SHAH ALAM – Selangor’s newly announced Resilience Strengthening Package is being viewed as a timely response to rising cost-of-living pressures, though its real impact will hinge on how effectively it is carried out on the ground.
Gombak PKR treasurer Dato Zainol Abidin Mohamed said the package reflects the state government’s continued focus on public welfare, while also signalling Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari’s readiness to respond to economic uncertainty.
He noted that while the measures could provide short-term relief, their longer-term value would depend on consistent and well-coordinated implementation.
“The effectiveness of this package ultimately depends on execution at the grassroots level, and whether the relevant agencies can ensure assistance reaches the intended groups without leakages,” he said in a statement.
The package includes targeted initiatives such as cost-of-living support and price intervention programmes, including the Jualan Ehsan Rahmah, aimed at easing the burden on low- and middle-income households.
Zainol Abidin said such programmes should be expanded and carried out more frequently, particularly in densely populated areas, to ensure wider access.
The measures come at a time when many households continue to grapple with rising prices of essential goods and transportation costs.
He also urged the public to practise prudent spending and called for stronger unity in navigating ongoing economic challenges.
At the same time, he pointed to global uncertainties, including geopolitical tensions, as contributing factors that continue to weigh on the domestic economy.
Zainol Abidin expressed hope that the initiatives announced would be implemented consistently, ensuring tangible benefits reach those who need them most across the state. -MalayaDailyToday
