KUALA LUMPUR – Mukmin has emerged as the largest national platform bringing together organisations, institutions, professionals, entrepreneurs, educators and community leaders from the Indian Muslim community under a shared vision of unity, empowerment and sustainable development.
Its President, Datuk Wira Shahul Dawood, said the time had come for the community to move beyond fragmented efforts and embrace a more coordinated approach to addressing challenges and creating opportunities for future generations.
According to him, no single organisation can effectively address every issue facing the community, making collaboration and collective action increasingly important.
“Mukmin was established on a simple belief that our community is strongest when we work together.
“No single organisation can address every challenge facing our community. But together, we can create opportunities, mobilise resources and build a stronger future for all,” he said in a statement following the organisation’s inaugural Executive Committee (Exco) meeting.
The meeting reaffirmed Mukmin’s commitment to strengthening the Indian Muslim community through strategic initiatives focused on education, entrepreneurship, leadership development, social welfare and community unity.

Shahul said Mukmin is guided by five strategic pillars namely Education and Talent Development, Entrepreneurship and Economic Empowerment, Leadership and Representation, Social Welfare and Community Wellbeing, as well as Faith, Identity and Ukhuwah.
He said the organisation aspires to become more than just another community body, positioning itself instead as a trusted national ecosystem that connects people, organisations and opportunities to create lasting impact.
“Through our five strategic pillars, we are creating pathways for education, economic empowerment, leadership development, social wellbeing and stronger community bonds,” he said.
As part of its efforts to expand access to higher education, Mukmin announced that it had secured more than RM7 million in scholarship commitments through collaborations with six institutions namely UNITAR International University, University of Cyberjaya, MAHSA University, BAC Education Group, Binary College and SG Academy.
More than 350 scholarship opportunities will be made available through higher education and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) pathways, providing greater access to quality education and skills development for deserving students nationwide.
Mukmin also unveiled its Adopt A Graduate Programme, a community-driven initiative aimed at supporting students and graduates through tuition sponsorships, employment opportunities, mentorship, industry exposure and career development pathways.
Shahul said the programme seeks to reduce financial barriers to education while helping graduates make a smoother transition into the workforce.
He added that several additional partnerships with higher learning institutions are currently being finalised as Mukmin looks to further expand scholarship opportunities and talent development programmes in the coming months.

Meanwhile, Mukmin is expected to be officially launched in August in conjunction with Malaysia’s National Month celebrations, with more than 2,500 participants from across the country anticipated to attend.
The event is also expected to attract Indian Muslim community leaders and representatives from several countries, reflecting Mukmin’s ambition to strengthen international networks, promote knowledge-sharing and foster strategic collaborations that will benefit the community both locally and globally.
“We are building more than an organisation. We are building a movement that empowers communities, nurtures future leaders, creates opportunities and strengthens the collective voice of the Indian Muslim community.
“Our success will not be measured by the size of our organisation, but by the lives we impact and the communities we uplift,” Shahul said. -MalayaDailyToday
