KUALA LUMPUR – The Managing Director of HydroShoppe Sdn. Bhd. and Menara Kuala Lumpur Sdn. Bhd. (MKLSB), Dato’ Abdul Hamid Shaikh Abdul Razak Shaikh, has condemned the attempted forced eviction on the first night of Aidilfitri, calling it an act of intimidation and abuse of power.
Speaking at a press conference on Aidilfitri night, Dato’ Abdul Hamid expressed his deep disappointment over the incident, stating that the forced eviction was not only cruel but also violated legal processes and challenged the court’s authority, as the case is still under trial.
“Today is Aidilfitri, a day meant to be celebrated with joy alongside family and loved ones. However, our hearts sank when we initially received news of a forced eviction on the very first night of Syawal. Thankfully, due to media exposure, the eviction was prevented,” he said.
Dato’ Abdul Hamid praised the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) for not succumbing to pressure to act against a Bumiputera-owned company that has served the nation.
“Tonight, the attempt to misuse enforcement agencies was thwarted, and we hope it remains that way without victimizing us,” he added.
Legal Rights and Concession Agreement
Dato’ Abdul Hamid explained that HydroShoppe and MKLSB hold a valid concession agreement granted by the government. According to him, the Public-Private Partnership Unit (UKAS), the Ministry of Communications, and the Malaysian government have agreed to award a 15-year concession from 31 December 2024 to 31 December 2039. Moreover, an official meeting on 9 November 2022 led to an agreement to extend the concession by 30 more years until 31 December 2054.
“This proves that we obtained management rights lawfully, without any misconduct or suspicion. We have fulfilled all conditions responsibly and with integrity,” he asserted, dismissing allegations that HydroShoppe and MKLSB lack experience or are newly established companies.

He also highlighted that MKLSB has been managing the Kuala Lumpur Tower’s operations for over 30 years, refuting claims of inexperience.
Fighting for Bumiputera Rights
Dato’ Abdul Hamid stressed that the struggle was not only about defending his company’s rights but also about upholding the rights of Bumiputera entrepreneurs who are often marginalized.
“We urge LSH Best Builders Sdn. Bhd., Service Master (M) Sdn. Bhd., and the government to respect the ongoing court proceedings. They should not resort to manipulation or demonstrate power outside the court,” he stated firmly.
He called on Malaysians, particularly the Malay and Bumiputera communities, to reflect on whether they want to see their business institutions undermined.
“If we are treated like this today, who will be next? While others are celebrating Hari Raya, we are forced to fight for our rights. We do not seek sympathy; we only demand justice,” he concluded. -MalayaDailyToday
