KUALA LUMPUR – Parti Keadilan Rakyat Women’s wing has taken aim at Khairy Jamaluddin over his recent comments comparing the strength of UMNO with PKR and Bersatu, describing the remarks as politically loaded and detached from reality.
PKR Women’s Central Committee exco member, Farahida Fauzi said Khairy’s statements appeared more focused on shaping public perception than providing a fair assessment of the current political climate.
She argued that Khairy, who has long been outside UMNO’s internal structure, was in no position to accurately speak on the party’s real condition or dynamics.
“Making claims about a party’s internal strength from the outside is like observing through a fence. It may appear clear from a distance, but the reality is very different.
“What he presented comes across more as a personal narrative rather than an accurate picture of the situation,” she said in a statement on Monday.
Farahida also suggested that Khairy’s remarks risked creating unnecessary friction between Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) at a time when political stability and cooperation were needed most.
According to her, such narratives could indirectly benefit certain quarters seeking to exploit tensions within the unity government.
She also rejected claims that PKR was facing serious internal cracks, saying differing opinions within the party should not be mistaken for instability.
“A healthy political party will naturally have differences in views. What matters is how those differences are managed constructively and maturely,” she said.
Farahida further stressed that Khairy’s comments should not be interpreted as reflecting UMNO’s official stand, noting that the party has its own leadership and established channels to express its position. -MalayaDailyToday
