PUTRAJAYA – Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek shared a proud and emotional moment today as her second daughter, Sarah, scored an impressive 8As in the 2024 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination.
Fadhlina, who was visiting Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Convent Kajang to witness the release of this year’s SPM results, told reporters, “I’m grateful and very happy. My daughter received her results today “Alhamdulillah”, 8As.”
Earlier in the day, she spent over an hour at Sekolah Menengah Agama Persekutuan Kajang accompanying Sarah as she received her results before continuing with her official duties.

In a heartfelt Facebook post, the Nibong Tebal MP praised her daughter’s dedication and expressed deep gratitude. “Because we love you and we make doa for you! Thank you, Sarah, for this excellent result,” she wrote.
She emphasized that no matter what results students received today, parents should be proud and thankful for their children’s efforts. “Celebrate and guide them forward so they continue their journey in education.”
Fadhlina hinted at possible future paths for Sarah, noting with a smile, “If not Islamic studies or Shariah, then maybe law; just like Mama and Baba!”
She also extended appreciation to Sarah’s teachers, friends, and family who supported her academic journey.
This marks a second academic milestone for the family, as Sarah’s older sibling achieved 9As and 2Bs in last year’s SPM.
Nationally, 2024’s SPM results recorded the best performance since 2013. Education Director-General Datuk Azman Adnan announced that the National Average Grade (GPK) improved to 4.49 from 4.60 in 2023, with over 86,000 candidates securing at least a credit (Grade C) in all subjects.
The Education Ministry continues to champion student excellence, as exemplified by Sarah’s achievement, a moment of pride not just for a mother, but for a minister leading the nation’s education system. -MalayaDailyToday
