KUALA LUMPUR – UMNO Youth Chief Datuk Dr. Muhamad Akmal Saleh has urged Barisan Nasional (BN) to extend Johor’s electoral policy of non-cooperation with DAP nationwide, highlighting the growing friction within the country’s political landscape.
The call follows recent friction over sensitive local policy matters that Dr. Akmal claims have crossed boundaries into undermining royal decrees.
In a statement published on his social media accounts, the youth leader expressed relief that political differences are becoming clearer to the public, suggesting that it is time for the coalition to re-evaluate its current partnership framework.
“Alhamdulillah, the true stance of certain parties is being revealed little by little. Enough is enough with trying to cooperate with them,” he said, referencing recent controversies that have stirred public debate online.
Dr. Akmal’s remarks centered on a localized dispute involving livestock regulations, where he claimed that criticisms of a Sultan’s decree on the matter went too far. He argued that if royal guidance on sensitive community issues could be easily dismissed, it sets an unstable precedent for broader governance and national harmony.
Based on these developments, Dr. Akmal maintained that Johor BN’s recent decision to chart an independent political path away from DAP should serve as a blueprint for other states.
“The decision made in Johor must be implemented across all states,” he stressed.
The statement has sparked a flurry of public reactions on Malaysian social media, with netizen sentiments divided between supporters advocating for the preservation of traditional institutions and critics calling for calmer political dialogue to protect national stability.
Political analysts note that while robust debate remains a hallmark of local politics, maintaining public confidence and preserving the integrity of constitutional institutions like the Malay Rulers remains crucial to ensuring long-term social cohesion. -MalayaDailyToday
