KUALA LUMPUR – The Deputy President of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, has been expelled from the party with immediate effect.
Bersatu Secretary General, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said the decision was made by the party’s Disciplinary Board in accordance with Clause 22.5 of the party’s constitution.
“The expulsion takes effect on February 13, 2026, following his actions which were found to be in breach of Clause 9.1.4 of the Bersatu constitution,” he said in a statement today.
Earlier, a notice signed by Disciplinary Board chairman Datuk Mohd Radzi Manan stated that the board, which convened yesterday, had decided to terminate Hamzah’s party membership.
The notice said the decision took effect immediately, but Hamzah is allowed to submit an appeal to the party’s Appeals Board within 14 days from the date of the notice.
“However, Datuk Seri Hamzah may submit an appeal to the Appeals Board for consideration within 14 days from the date of this notice,” it said.
Hamzah was reported to have been absent after being summoned to attend disciplinary proceedings at Bersatu’s headquarters in Petaling Jaya.
His private secretary, Ahmad Ikhwan Fadhli, said the Larut Member of Parliament is currently in Sydney, Australia.
He said Hamzah travelled to Australia to accompany his daughter and assist with her university registration matters before receiving the notice on Feb 7 to attend the disciplinary hearing.
No further details were provided on the alleged breach that led to the disciplinary action. -MalayaDailyToday
