KUALA LUMPUR – A total of 200 underprivileged pilgrims have departed for the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah to perform Umrah, fully sponsored by corporate entity Malik Streams Corporation Sdn Bhd.
Joining them on the pilgrimage is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Malik Streams, Datuk Abdul Malik Dasthigeer, along with his family and staff, reflecting his hands-on commitment to the initiative.
Speaking to Malaya Daily Today, Abdul Malik expressed deep gratitude that despite various challenges over recent months, the company was able to realise its vision of helping more underprivileged individuals fulfil their spiritual journey.
“This marks our third consecutive year sponsoring Umrah pilgrims. What started with fewer than 50 participants has now grown to 200. I am truly humbled,” said Abdul Malik.

This year’s initiative is estimated to cost RM1.8 million, covering return flights, hotel accommodations, full Umrah attire including ihram garments, and a cash allowance of 250 Saudi riyals for each participant.
“We’ve ensured every detail is taken care of so they can focus entirely on their ibadah (acts of worship) while in the Holy Land. These individuals are like family to me, and it’s an honour to support them on this meaningful journey,” he added.

The selection process was described as emotional, with over 650 applications received. Priority was given to those who have never performed Umrah, come from financially challenged backgrounds, and demonstrated genuine desire during interviews.
“I was deeply moved by their stories. If given the opportunity by Allah, I would love to bring even more people in the future,” said Abdul Malik.

The group is scheduled to spend 12 days in Makkah and Madinah before returning to Malaysia at the end of the month.
