KUALA LUMPUR – Batik Air today celebrates a major milestone: 10 years of connecting Kuala Lumpur and Perth, a decade that has strengthened people-to-people ties, boosted tourism, and enhanced business mobility between Malaysia and Western Australia.
Launched in 2015, the Kuala Lumpur–Perth route has grown into one of Batik Air’s most established and dependable international services.
Over the years, it has supported a steady flow of travellers holidaymakers, students, families, and business communities while reinforcing Malaysia’s position as a key aviation gateway in the region.
To mark the anniversary, Batik Air is holding a series of special activities at Perth Airport, including commemorative displays, exclusive giveaways, and surprise engagements for passengers flying out of Perth throughout the day.
Perth Airport’s Acting Chief Commercial & Aviation Officer, James Gorton, highlighted the importance of the partnership, noting that Perth was the airline group’s first entry point into Australia.
“Over the past 10 years, Perth Airport and Batik Air have maintained a strong partnership that has contributed to Malaysia becoming Western Australia’s fifth-largest international visitor market, injecting $131 million into the WA economy in visitor expenditure in FY25.
We congratulate Batik Air on this significant milestone and look forward to many more decades of successful collaboration and convenient travel options for our customers,” he said.
Batik Air Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy, described the anniversary as both a celebration and a launchpad for future ambitions.

“A decade on, this route remains a strong testament to how air connectivity can unlock opportunities and deepen regional ties.
“This milestone is not just about honouring the past but setting the stage for a more dynamic, innovative, and connected future for Batik Air.
“Our focus moving forward is to build a smarter network that offers travellers more choice, greater comfort, and a seamless experience, while enhancing Malaysia’s role as a key aviation hub,” he said.
Currently, Batik Air operates seven weekly direct flights between Kuala Lumpur and Perth, complemented by seven weekly one-stop flights via Denpasar, Bali.
This robust schedule has consistently supported two-way travel for families, students, business travellers, and holidaymakers.
In response to rising demand and Perth’s growing appeal as both a leisure and business destination, Batik Air will introduce 11 additional direct flights in December 2025, providing even more flexibility during the peak travel season.
This expansion reinforces the airline’s commitment to supporting travel growth, stimulating tourism, and strengthening regional connectivity.
