SUBANG JAYA – The investigation into the gas pipeline explosion and fire in Putra Heights is nearing a critical milestone, with Selangor police confirming that a preliminary report is expected within the next week.
Selangor Police Chief Commissioner Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, speaking during a media walkthrough at the blast site today, said authorities are now in the final stretch of specimen collection before the investigation moves into the analytical phase.
“We’ve already retrieved three specimens and are in the process of extracting the final one,” Hussein said. “Once that’s done, we expect the on-site investigation led by the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (JKKP) to be completed within a week.”

The investigation, which has involved extensive excavation and soil testing, is set to move into a more technical stage. Laboratory analysis of the collected materials; including potential forensic and chemical testing will be carried out with the assistance of SIRIM to determine the exact cause of the explosion.
“This isn’t a simple task. We need lab-based assessments to determine what triggered the blast,” Hussein explained, underscoring the complexity of the probe and the need for thorough, science-backed findings.
Also supporting the investigation is the Department of Minerals and Geoscience (JMG), which will produce a geoforensic report to examine soil structure and other geological factors that may have contributed to the incident.
Once preliminary findings are compiled and the site deemed safe, the area will be formally handed over to PETRONAS to commence pipeline recovery and rehabilitation works.
Authorities have pledged transparency throughout the process, with Hussein reiterating the importance of not rushing conclusions. “Public safety is paramount,” he said. “We owe it to the community to provide clear, evidence-based answers.” -MalayaDailyToday
