KUALA LUMPUR – Local actor and singer Sivakumar Jayabalan was found dead alongside his mother in a tragic incident at a condominium in Taman Desa Petaling, Cheras, on Friday.
Cheras District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Aidil Bolhassan, confirmed that both Sivakumar, 48, and his mother, 76, are believed to have fallen from the 11th floor of the building around 12.35 p.m.
“Preliminary investigations suggest there is no indication of foul play at this time, but we are continuing to examine the case from multiple angles,” he said when contacted by reporters.
The bodies of the deceased were sent to Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz for post-mortem examinations to determine the exact cause of death.
Police have urged any members of the public with relevant information to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
Sivakumar rose to fame through the 2006 Astro reality singing competition Paadal Thiran, later becoming a popular host, including on the Astro Go Shop home shopping platform.
He was previously married, though the marriage ended in separation. Sivakumar is survived by a son from the union.
