SEPANG – AirAsia has resumed most flights to and from destinations affected by the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau following the reopening of Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.
The eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau in Indonesia’s Sunda Strait had generated extensive volcanic ash clouds and posed a significant threat to aircraft safety.
In a statement today, AirAsia said the airport now reopened following its temporary closure since September 6.
“AirAsia has resumed affected services to and from Jakarta, with the exception of two flights on Sept 8.
“The affected flights are QZ178 from Jakarta (CGK) to Bandar Lampung (TKG) and QZ179 from Bandar Lampung (TKG) to Jakarta (CGK),” the airline said.
AirAsia said the airline has also notified all affected guests on their flight status and recovery options.
“The airline is working hard to ensure that guests can resume their journeys safely on the next available flight.
“The situation remains fluid and AirAsia guests travelling to and from the affected destinations are urged to check their latest flight status via airasia.com/flightstatus,” it added. -MalayaDailyToday
