KUALA LUMPUR – Perikatan Nasional (PN) has officially congratulated C. Joseph Vijay and his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), following their electoral success in Tamil Nadu, India, and Vijay’s swearing-in as Chief Minister.
In a formal media statement released by PN Secretary-General Takiyuddin Hassan, the coalition hailed the victory as a monumental shift in the region’s political landscape. Takiyuddin remarked that the triumph reflects a deep-seated confidence among the electorate in Vijay’s vision for reform, justice, and social harmony.
A Mandate for Reform
The statement emphasized that the TVK’s agenda, which focuses on youth empowerment, modernization, and the rejection of divisive, discriminatory politics—resonated strongly with voters.
“This victory reflects the confidence of the people in his vision for reform… and opposition to divisive and discriminatory politics,” Takiyuddin stated.
Deep Ties with Malaysia
The Malaysian opposition coalition noted that Vijay, a former actor affectionately known as “Thalapathy” Vijay, holds immense influence within Malaysia. His popularity is particularly high among Indian Malaysian youths, who admire him not only for his artistic achievements but also for his humanitarian efforts and public leadership.
Takiyuddin highlighted that Vijay’s political ascent has been monitored with “great interest and enthusiasm” in Malaysia, citing the enduring historical, cultural, and linguistic bonds between Tamil Nadu and the Malaysian Indian community.
Political Context
Vijay, 51, officially transitioned from cinema to governance after his party, TVK, secured 108 seats in the 234-seat assembly. While the party fell slightly short of the 118 seats needed for a solo majority, successful negotiations and support from other legislative members paved the way for him to take the oath of office yesterday.
The statement concluded with PN offering its best wishes to the new Chief Minister, expressing hope that his leadership will guide Tamil Nadu toward a new era of progress, stability, and shared prosperity. -MalayaDailyToday
