CHENNAI – The newly appointed Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, C. Joseph Vijay, has officially taken his oath of office, promising to be a steadfast voice for the people and to bring comprehensive reform to the state’s administration.
In an emotional inaugural address delivered at Nehru Stadium, the President of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) party emphasized that his party’s victory was not merely a political win, but a “people’s uprising” driven by a collective desire for change in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape.
According to Vijay, the mandate-driven heavily by the youth-sends a clear message that the public demands leadership that is clean, transparent, and attuned to the needs of the common citizen.
“Today is not just my victory. This is a victory for the people of Tamil Nadu who believed that change is still possible,” Vijay told the thousands of supporters gathered at the stadium. “This mandate is a sacred trust, and I will not let it go to waste.”
Key Policy Focus
Vijay outlined that his administration will prioritize immediate socio-economic issues, including:
- Job Creation: Expanding opportunities for the unemployed.
- Cost of Living: Mitigating the financial burden on families.
- Education & Youth Development: Strengthening the foundation for future generations.
- Social Welfare: Protecting the interests of the poor and the middle class.
The TVK-led government aims to balance aggressive economic development with social welfare to ensure that no community is left behind. Vijay also guaranteed that his administration would be open to public feedback and would practice rigorous transparent governance.
A Shift in Tradition
The success of the TVK is being hailed as one of the most significant political upsets in Indian history. By securing a majority, the party has effectively ended the decades-long dominance of traditional political heavyweights, the DMK and AIADMK.
Vijay expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support despite TVK being established only a few years ago. He noted that the party’s rise proves that voters are no longer bound by traditional political ties and are brave enough to seek new alternatives.
“We have proven that true power lies in the hands of the people. When the people unite, change is inevitable,” he added.
The atmosphere at Nehru Stadium remained electric throughout the day, with supporters waving TVK flags and chanting slogans in celebration of the historic transition. Alongside Vijay, several senior TVK leaders were also sworn in as members of the state cabinet. -MalayaDailyToday
