KUALA LUMPUR – A police patrol (MPV) officer suffered a partially severed left ear after being bitten by a Nigerian man during an arrest at Jalan Kepong, Metro Prima, earlier this morning.
Kuala Lumpur Police Chief, Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa, said the incident occurred around 10.03am after the officer, a corporal, responded to an emergency call reporting a foreign man causing a disturbance at a nearby clinic.
“Investigations revealed that the 38-year-old suspect had been causing a commotion at the clinic and was subsequently detained by personnel from the Kepong Police Station,” he said in a statement today.
The situation escalated when officers were escorting the handcuffed suspect into the back seat of the patrol vehicle. Without warning, the suspect bit the corporal’s left ear, severing part of it.
Following the attack, the injured officer was rushed to Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) for immediate medical treatment. Meanwhile, the suspect was successfully restrained and taken into custody at the scene.
The case is being investigated under Section 325 and Section 353 of the Penal Code for causing grievous hurt and assaulting a public servant, respectively. Additionally, the suspect faces action under Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for overstaying in the country. -MalayaDailyToday
