KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia has extended its deepest condolences to the governments and people of Nepal and China following catastrophic flash floods in the Nepal-China border region, while deploying additional diplomatic personnel to assist affected Malaysians on the ground.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the Malaysian Embassy in Kathmandu is coordinating closely with local authorities to locate and assist affected citizens, with officers from the Malaysian High Commission in Dhaka also being deployed to reinforce relief operations.
“I have directed that our mission be provided with every resource it needs. The Government will remain fully engaged until the Malaysians affected are accounted for and their families have the support they need,” Anwar said in a statement posted on his official Facebook page today.
The Prime Minister commended the dedication of search and rescue teams operating under hazardous terrain conditions and expressed solidarity with the victims’ families. -MalayaDailyToday
