SUBANG JAYA – The mayor of Subang Jaya has confirmed that local authorities approved the development project near the site of the underground gas pipeline fire in Putra Heights.
Mayor Datuk Amirul Azizan Abd Rahim stated that the project went through the proper approval process in 2022, including securing permission from Petronas to utilize the Right-of-Way (ROW) for the Indah Water Konsortium (IWK) route.
“The contractor involved is on the panel approved by IWK and Petronas,” he said at the Incident Control Post today.
Addressing social media speculation linking the project to the fire, Amirul Azizan said that the authorities would refrain from issuing an official response for now, as investigations by Petronas, the police, and other relevant agencies are still ongoing.

He noted that the project was originally scheduled for completion in December last year but encountered delays in obtaining the Certificate of Completion and Compliance (CCC).
“I am not sure of the exact cause of the delay. What is certain is that all approvals were obtained according to the established procedures, and the project complies with all conditions and regulations,” he said.
Social media users recently claimed that excavation work might have triggered the fire on Jalan Putra Harmoni, Putra Heights. -MalayaDailyToday
