SEREMBAN – Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun said the Dewan Keadilan dan Undang (DKU) has advised that the removal of Datuk Mubarak Dohak as Undang of Sungei Ujong be accepted, following a special sitting at Istana Besar Seri Menanti today.
He said the sitting, held at 10am, was convened to deliberate on the dismissal of Mubarak as the 10th Undang, also known as YTM Datuk Klana Petra of Sungei Ujong.
“The Yang di-Pertuan Besar enforced Clause 24 of the Negeri Sembilan Constitution 1959 and invited the Ibu Soko Klana Hulu and Waris Klana Hulu to attend the special sitting,” he said in a statement.
Aminuddin said 33 grounds were presented before the Yang di-Pertuan Besar, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, and members of the DKU to justify the removal of Mubarak.
He added that the council subsequently advised that the dismissal be accepted in accordance with the customs of the Sungei Ujong luak, in line with Clause 14(3) of the Negeri Sembilan Constitution 1959.
Mubarak, 65, has held the position since 1993 and is one of the four Undang under Negeri Sembilan’s Adat Perpatih system.
The Undang play a central role in the state’s customary governance structure, including participating in the selection of the Yang di-Pertuan Besar, in addition to serving as custodians of adat and community leadership.
The development marks a rare move involving the removal of an Undang, with attention now turning to the response from the Sungei Ujong luak and the next steps under the adat framework. -MalayaDailyToday
