KUANTAN – The Malaysian Community Crime Concern Organisation (MCCC) Pahang has extended its congratulations to Yang Mulia Tengku Dato’ Suleiman bin Yang Mulia Tengku Dato’ Haji Abd Rahman, Supervisor of the Pahang Polo Club, and Yang Mulia Tengku Dato’ Akashah bin Tengku Haji Hussain on the conferment of the Darjah Indera Mahkota Pahang (DIMP).
MCCC Pahang chairman Daniel Khoo said the conferment was a meaningful recognition of the service, commitment and contributions of both figures, particularly Tengku Dato’ Suleiman’s longstanding contribution to the development and continuity of polo in Pahang.
He said Tengku Dato’ Suleiman’s involvement with the Pahang Polo Club for more than three decades reflected his longstanding commitment to the sport and his efforts to ensure that polo continued to grow and remain relevant to the younger generation.
“On behalf of MCCC Pahang, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to Yang Mulia Tengku Dato’ Suleiman and Yang Mulia Tengku Dato’ Akashah on receiving the DIMP.
“More than three decades in the world of polo is no small achievement. It reflects Tengku Dato’ Suleiman’s commitment, dedication and contribution towards ensuring the sport continues to thrive in Pahang,” he said.

Daniel said Tengku Dato’ Akashah, who is also a former Pahang polo player, had extensive experience in the sport and had been closely associated with the development of polo in the state.
He said the experience and contributions of figures such as Tengku Dato’ Akashah were important in ensuring that knowledge, traditions and passion for polo could be passed on to the next generation.
Meanwhile, the family’s passion for polo has also continued into the next generation, with Tengku Dato’ Suleiman’s two sons, Tengku Ahmad Shazril Ezzani and Tengku Ahmad Khairul Hasnan Shah, actively involved in the sport.
Tengku Ahmad Shazril Ezzani is a national polo player who has represented Malaysia at the SEA Games and helped the national team secure the gold medal in the 4 to 6-goal polo event at the 2025 SEA Games.
His younger brother, Tengku Ahmad Khairul Hasnan Shah, is also active in polo competitions, continuing the family’s interest and tradition in the sport.
Daniel said such continuity demonstrated how experience and passion for sport could be passed from one generation to another.
“The role of individuals with extensive experience in polo is important in ensuring that the knowledge, traditions and sporting spirit are carried forward to the younger generation.
“We hope young people, particularly in Pahang, will draw inspiration from those who have dedicated many years to this sport,” he said.
Daniel added that MCCC Pahang also viewed sports participation as an important platform for developing young people with discipline, teamwork and strong character.
“Polo is not only about competition. It also teaches discipline, resilience, courage and teamwork.
“We hope more young people will have the opportunity to discover and take up this sport, and continue the polo legacy in Pahang,” he said. -MalayaDailyToday
