SELAYANG – Veteran politician Datuk Ganesan Supayah has announced his intention to contest the Selayang PKR Deputy Chief post in the upcoming party elections next month.
Ganesan, a successful IT entrepreneur and business owner, is a familiar figure among the Selayang community, particularly in the Rawang area. Despite joining PKR only two years ago, his involvement in politics and community work dates back to the 1980s, reflecting a long-standing commitment to social issues.
Explaining his choice to join PKR, Ganesan said it was driven by the party’s relevance and its reformist agenda championed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, which he believes truly resonates with the people.
“I chose PKR because it is not only relevant but has proven that the reform movement initiated by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim genuinely connects with the people. This struggle is not just a slogan but a reality that benefits the community,” he told the media.
As a native of Rawang who was born and raised in the area, Ganesan stressed that his commitment to the community has remained consistent over the years, regardless of whether he held any official position.
“This is my birthplace, and the people here know me well. They recognize the community work I have done even without holding any official post. I have always served sincerely, and that spirit drives me to continue contributing through the political platform,” he explained.
Ganesan also shared that his decision to contest came after receiving blessings from the party’s top leadership, along with encouragement from grassroots members who wanted to see experienced and people-centric leadership in Selayang.

“Although I am comfortable working independently, the strong support from party leaders and grassroots members motivated me to contest. I am optimistic and confident in our grassroots and voters. They know me and my previous contributions. Win or lose, it’s all part of the process, but what matters is to fight sincerely,” he added.
The Selayang PKR Deputy Chief post will see a three-cornered fight involving Ganesan, Sulaiman Abu Samah, and Gan Song Chee. Despite the competition, Ganesan remains confident that grassroots support will be the deciding factor.
“I believe in the strength of grassroots support and our collective commitment. My goal is to ensure the party remains strong and relevant in Selayang,” he said.
The PKR branch elections for 2025 will take place from April 11 to 20, with state-level elections held according to the schedule, including Pahang on April 19. -MalayaDailyToday
