I strongly condemn the recent act involving the desecration of the Al-Quran. Such behaviour is deeply offensive, unacceptable, and has no place in a civilised and multi-faith society like Malaysia.
Hinduism, like all other religions, does not permit acts of disrespect towards any sacred text or place of worship. A responsible Hindu would never commit such an act. Stepping on the Al-Quran is, to us, akin to stepping on our own Vedic scriptures. It is a violation of conscience, faith, and humanity.
At the same time, I must state clearly that mocking, circulating videos on social media, making fun of it, or recording and sensationalising such incidents is equally reprehensible. Such acts are disgusting and deeply hurtful. A good and principled Muslim would never behave in such a manner. Disrespect cannot be justified under any circumstance, regardless of which community it comes from.
It is unjust and dangerous to punish or stigmatise an entire Hindu or Chinese community for the actions of a few individuals, just as it is wrong to generalise Muslims based on the irresponsible conduct of certain groups. Collective blame only deepens mistrust and fractures our social fabric.
We must remember the sacrifices of our forefathers who built this nation on the foundations of multiracialism, multiculturalism, and mutual respect. Malaysia is respected globally not because of our economic strength alone, but because of the way diverse communities live together in harmony.
I humbly urge the public not to fall into the trap set by irresponsible provocateurs who seek to instigate hatred and threaten religious harmony. Their objective is division. Certainly, such attempts often intensify when elections are around the corner. We must not allow them to succeed.
Let us stand together firmly and united to send a clear and strong message. Malaysia rejects extremism, provocation, and religious hatred. We are one nation bound by shared values of respect, dignity, and coexistence.
Only through unity, restraint, and moral clarity can we protect the peace and harmony that define our country.
