PUTRAJAYA – The Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia (KPM) has launched an investigation into claims that examination papers for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) have been sold illegally.
At a press briefing following his visit to Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Putrajaya Presint 11(1), Director-General of Education Dr. Mohd Azam Ahmad confirmed that although no formal report has yet been lodged, the ministry is taking viral social-media screenshots seriously. “We are aware of circulating posts in recent days alleging the sale of SPM papers,” he said.
The screenshots reportedly show offers of SPM question papers for as low as RM499 per subject, with promises of full refunds if students do not achieve high marks. Dr Azam emphasised the strict security measures in place for SPM papers, saying that all protocols including at locations impacted by flooding are being upheld.
“We have begun taking action and are identifying the storage sites for the exam papers. At minimum, we’re considering placing them in police station lock-ups,” he added.
This year, a total of 413,372 candidates across government, aided and private schools (including MRSM, Maktab Tentera Diraja, and registered religious schools) are sitting for SPM 2025.
The first paper Bahasa Melayu Paper 1 started at 8:15 am on the day of the announcement, followed by Visual Arts (Theory) and Bahasa Melayu Paper 2 in the afternoon.
KPM’s investigation is ongoing as it tracks the origin of the circulated claims and reviews its chain of custody for exam materials. -MalayaDailyToday
