KUCHING – A 34-year-old man was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head inside a vehicle along Jalan Stephen Yong, Batu Kawa, early this morning in what police are now treating as a murder case.
Padawan District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohd Irwan Hafiz Md Radzi, confirmed that police were alerted to the incident by two men who arrived at the Batu Kawa Police Station at approximately 5.30am.
According to initial reports, the two individuals informed officers that their friend was slumped in the driver’s seat and believed to have been shot while driving along the road.
“They brought the victim to the police station in the car. Upon inspection, the investigation team from the Padawan District Police Headquarters (IPD) and medical officers confirmed the victim’s death at the scene,” said Superintendent Mohd Irwan in a statement.
He added that there was a visible gunshot wound to the victim’s head, further intensifying suspicions of foul play.
The case is currently being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. Authorities have yet to determine the motive behind the shooting or identify any suspects involved.
