KUALA LUMPUR – The government will focus on students in agriculture-based Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said this initiative aims to balance the employability of graduates alongside those from non-agricultural fields.
“We have never sidelined the needs of agricultural TVET. The average employability rate among TVET students is 94.2 percent, while for TVET under the Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) institutions, it is 98.7 percent.
“In the agricultural sector, it stands at around 80 percent. Insya-Allah, I will also focus on this group to ensure a balance between agricultural and non-agricultural graduates.
“We will further strengthen these TVET institutions. I will look into this matter, and the National TVET Council will ensure that agricultural TVET graduates are given attention and priority,” he said in the Dewan Rakyat today.
He was responding to a question from Nurul Amin Hamid (PN-Padang Terap) regarding the government’s direction and plans to strengthen agricultural TVET and whether these plans are included in the newly announced single TVET rating body. -MalayaDailyToday
