KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a dangerous-level continuous heavy rain warning for four states, affecting several districts in the northern and east coast regions.
The warning, issued at midnight, involves Perlis, Kedah (Langkawi, Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, Padang Terap, Yan, Pendang and Sik), Kelantan (Tumpat, Pasir Mas, Kota Bharu, Tanah Merah, Bachok, Machang and Pasir Puteh) and Terengganu (Besut).
According to MetMalaysia, very heavy and continuous rainfall is expected in these areas until tomorrow, posing risks of flash floods and disruptions.
At the same time, a severe-level heavy rain warning has been issued for other locations in the affected states.
This includes Penang and additional districts in Kedah, Kuala Muda, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu.
In Perak, heavy rain is expected in Kerian, Larut Matang dan Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Bagan Datuk and Hilir Perak.
Continuous heavy rain is also forecast for several districts in Kelantan (Jeli, Kuala Krai and Gua Musang) and Terengganu (Setiu, Kuala Nerus, Hulu Terengganu, Kuala Terengganu, Marang, Dungun and Kemaman).
For areas under the alert-level rainfall advisory, MetMalaysia said rain is expected in Kampar, Batang Padang and Muallim in Perak, as well as parts of Pahang Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Jerantut and Kuantan. -MalayaDailyToday
