PUTRAJAYA – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has dismissed allegations circulating on TikTok accusing the agency of issuing fake summonses, describing the claims as false, defamatory and misleading.
In a statement today, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission said the video had made baseless accusations that could undermine public confidence in the commission and damage its reputation as a law enforcement body.
According to MACC, the content alleged that its officers had served a fraudulent summons and portrayed the agency’s actions as a scam, claims which the commission said were entirely untrue.
It stressed that all summonses issued by MACC are carried out strictly in accordance with the law and established procedures.
The commission said it has demanded that the individual responsible immediately remove the video and issue an open public apology.
Failing that, MACC warned it would not hesitate to take legal action to protect its credibility and institutional integrity.
MACC also noted that the Attorney-General’s Chambers has granted consent to charge the individual involved, with the case scheduled to be mentioned in court on Feb 5.
The charge is related to a separate corruption case involving alleged counter-setting activities at immigration counters.
The commission reiterated that its investigations and enforcement actions are conducted professionally, transparently and without compromise, and urged the public to be responsible in their use of social media by refraining from spreading unverified or defamatory information. -MalayaDailyToday
