KIULU – The main Tamparuli-Kiulu road has been rendered impassable once more after a landslide triggered by relentless rain collapsed a temporary access route at KM2.45. Authorities have since closed the road to facilitate urgent repairs.
Kiulu assemblyman Datuk Joniston Bangkuai, who visited the site, has urged the Public Works Department (JKR) to swiftly construct a new temporary path to ease movement, especially for students and workers commuting daily.

“This disruption doesn’t just affect residents, it also impacts Kiulu’s tourism economy,” said Joniston, stressing the road’s role in supporting local eco-tourism activities.
He assured that JKR and contractors are working on a solution and confirmed ongoing monitoring to address recurring road damage along the stretch.
Motorists are advised to use alternative routes, including Jalan KK-Kudat and Jalan Kiulu Logkou Lama, with caution as repair works continue.
Joniston also reminded villagers to stay alert and drive carefully during this period of uncertainty. -MalayaDailyToday
