KUALA LUMPUR – Batik Air is soaring to new heights with the launch of Malaysia’s first-ever direct commercial flight to Dili, Timor-Leste, unlocking the doors to one of Southeast Asia’s most hidden and breathtaking destinations.
Starting 6 June 2025, the new route will operate twice a week, connecting Kuala Lumpur to the heart of Timor-Leste in just four hours and 15 minutes no layovers, no fuss, just seamless skies between the two nations.
“This is more than just a flight – it’s a bridge between two vibrant cultures, a boost for regional tourism, and a powerful step forward in ASEAN connectivity,” said Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy, CEO of Batik Air.

“We’re proud to be the first Malaysian airline to open the skies to Dili, offering a faster, more convenient option for both leisure and business travellers.”
With this bold move, Batik Air not only positions KLIA Terminal 1 as a stronger transit hub but also extends its network across 60 destinations in 20 countries, spanning ASEAN, China, the Indian Subcontinent, the Middle East and beyond.
Dili often described as Southeast Asia’s best-kept secret is a destination like no other. Nestled along the turquoise shores of the Timor Sea, the city is a vibrant mix of Portuguese colonial charm, untouched beaches, lush highlands, and world-class dive spots teeming with marine life. For adventure seekers, cultural explorers, and those yearning for a fresh new escape, Dili is a dream waiting to be discovered.

“This is part of our commitment to explore and connect emerging destinations,” added Datuk Chandran.
“We want to open the world to Timor-Leste and give its people direct access to the global network through Kuala Lumpur.”
Flights will be operated on the Boeing 737, with flexible fare packages tailored to every type of traveller from business flyers to backpackers covering baggage, inflight meals, and more. -MalayaDailyToday
