KUALA LUMPUR – In a decisive move prioritising passenger safety, Batik Air today confirmed the cancellation of flight OD713 to Dubai following an unexpected closure of airspace over Qatar and the United Arab Emirates due to escalating tensions in the Middle East.
The airline’s swift decision to turn the aircraft back to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) in the early hours of the morning was made in strict compliance with international aviation safety advisories and airspace restrictions issued by regional authorities.
“Safety of our passengers and crew is non-negotiable,” Batik Air said in its official statement.
Upon return to KLIA, affected passengers were promptly provided with accommodation, meals, and ground transportation. In a show of customer-first accountability, Batik Air is offering all impacted passengers the option of a full refund or rebooking on the next available flight.
Following a brief but significant disruption, Qatari and Emirati airspace has since reopened, allowing commercial traffic to resume. As such, Batik Air confirmed that services to Dubai will recommence on Wednesday, 25 June 2025.
The airline assured the public that it is closely monitoring the geopolitical landscape in coordination with the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM), international regulators, and regional air traffic control bodies. With contingency plans and flexible routing now in place, Batik Air is determined to maintain the reliability and integrity of its network.
Passengers with upcoming itineraries are encouraged to check Batik Air’s official website or reach out to the customer service hotline for updated travel information and rebooking assistance.
As global aviation grapples with the ripple effects of regional instability, Batik Air’s response stands as a reflection of its enduring commitment to safety, transparency, and the passenger experience. -MalayaDailyToday
